Ash Bidgood - Darling Downs winner.Ash Bidgood - Darling Downs winner.Crows Nest rifle shooter Ashley Bidgood continued his run of fine form with a comprehensive win in the Darling Downs Open at Goondiwindi on May 21 and 22.

He beat a strong field from across southern Queensland and northern NSW to sweep the Percy Gartner Memorial on Saturday, the Darling Downs District Rifle Association Open on Sunday and the two-day aggregate.



He missed just one bullseye across two 15 shot and three 10 shot ranges over 500 and 600 metres, for an aggregate score of 299 with 35 centre bulls.

Conditions were challenging with variable breezes and strong mirage.

The weekend became a family afffair with Ashley’s father Max winning the B Grade competition from his uncle, Dennis.

Emerging young Goondiwindi shooter Marcus Heironymus won the Merv Pacholke Memorial for best under 25 competitor with two wins in C Grade.

Gary Hauesler from Goondiwindi dominated the strong F Standard scope competition, collecting all three trophies.

North Arm shooter Dave Boreham won the Downs Open and two day aggregate in F Open scope competition with Jullie McEwan from Dalby-Tara taking the Percy Gartner trophy.
