Pacific Rifle Club member Gillian Webb-Enslin has won the 2016 Duncan Match in a shootoff from Beaudesert’s Lee Robinson.

Gillian, a top-ranked Australian shooter for many years, clinched her third Duncan trophy after sharing an aggregate two-down score of 298.32 with Lee for the six ranges from 300 to 1000 yards.

In an all-Queensland result, Natives member Kim O’Loghlen was a close third with 298.30 and Pen Picton from Goondiwindi placed fourth with 297.40.

Another Natives shooter Luke Baker won B Grade and Josh Pratt from Ipswich took the C Grade.

Ipswich shooter Daryl Barlow won the F Standard Duncan from Nick Willliam, Gemfields, with Mark Fairbairn from Cannon Hill prevailing on centres from Craig Pratt, Ipswich, in F Target Rifle.

Sydney competitors Matt Paroz and Alan Fraser filled the top placings in F Open.


The two-day lead-up event to the QRA Queens was shot in favourable weather conditions using electronic trargets. The Match attracted a strong field of 162 competitors from around Australia.

Clermont shooter convincing .303 winner

Clermont Rifle Club member Anthony Wilson was a convincing winner of a Duncan match shot with .303 service rifles.

A dozen competitors attracted plenty of interest and respect with the scores they posted.

Anthony, an experienced service rifle competitor, won with an aggregate 257.11 using a US-made Winchester P14 rifle which is around 100 years old.

He has recently taken up target rifle shooting and is competing in his first A Grade Queens event.

Gympie’s Dave Hatherell finished second in the .303 match with an aggregate 242.4.
