Big centenary shoot at North Arm

North Arm Toolburra Rifle Club 1926North Arm Toolburra Rifle Club 1926North Arm Rifle Club which has endured as the home of shooting on the Sunshine Coast is celebrating its centenary with a big weekend prize meeting on October 25 and 26.

The club was founded by dairy farmer George Frederick Davison who moved to North Arm from Grafton in 1907.

The rifle range was built on his property near Yandina by the Australian Army in 1914. George was a tireless contributor to the early success of the club serving as Secretary and later Captain for a total 34 years.

The range was originally home to the North Arm Toolburra Rifle Club until the 1960s. It was officially named the Davison Range to honour the founder in 1980.

The Monto Rifle Club held its annual Sweepstake shoot on the 12th & 13th of July 2014. We had 32 shooters competing over the weekend, coming from Brisbane, Clermont, Biloela, Raglan, Pheasant Creek, Bundaberg, Maryborough & Wagga Wagga. The club provided meals for the shooters over the course of the weekend. The mornings were a bit cold but both days turned into beautiful days with a little wind at times & the conditions being a little bit challenging at times. The ranges for Saturday were 1 x 300 yard range & 2 x 500 yard ranges and Sunday was 2 x 600 yard ranges.
