Fellow QRA Members
The last few weeks has seen further issues with members and clubs to deal with, particularly around the SE corner with the weather being experienced. Please everyone stay safe in these conditions we are experiencing.
Clubs may be eligible for financial assistance from State Government – Sport & Recreation assistance and your local Government (check local Council website for details).
Active Clubs Grants of $2,000 are open, details here.
The Board recently discussed a number of items. Most importantly we are progressing the strategic plan for the Association and plan on presenting this to the members following the AGM at the Member’s Forum on the 26th of March.
Other items discussed by the Board included:
The adoption of a new Taipans logo to represent all QRA shooting teams. Please see the attached logo. This will be used for all shooting teams that represent the QRA going forward. The first shirts are currently being printed for the F Class Nationals. The TR and Veterans teams will follow later in the year with a proposed new shirt as well.
The Board is looking forward to the finalisation of the Strategic Plan for the Association so we may develop and implement operational plans and assess the required resources needed to carry out the strategic priorities identified within the plan.
This is an important event on our calendar and I request as many of you to nominate and compete in these events where you meet the criteria.
Of course, this year we will hold our AGM on the Saturday evening of this event. As per our Rules changes late last year, members can now attend and vote of important issues that affect the Association. Following the AGM there will be a Members Forum where we can have the opportunity to provide input into the future of the Association.
A communication has been sent out requesting information on attendance to assist with a meal that is being arranged post these events on the Saturday evening. Book here
Please also, keep an eye out for documents leading into the AGM.
While the shooting year has commenced and stopped again due to weather we have seen one club conduct their OPM. Crows Nest Goombungee conducted a successful event in February. Numbers at the shoot were back slightly on previous years, however, from all reports it was enjoyed by all.
CQTS – Raglan – also recently saw the installation of their long awaited Hexta target systems. The club has 3 installed at the moment and reports are incredibly positive as to their functioning and the members enjoyment of not pulling targets! The CQTS Facebook page has been very active and recent posts of the targets are a welcome site after such a long wait to have them installed.
That is all for now. Please stay safe in this wild weather we are seeing.
I look forward to seeing you on the mound soon.
Yours in Shooting
Andrew McKillop
