NORTH ARM & LILLEY DISTRICT

PRIZE MEETING 2022

It was a hot and steamy 2 days at North Arm enjoying some great company and good shooting. Many backed up from the NRAA Nationals to come play at one of the trickest little ranges in Queensland.

HOW MANY WAYS CAN FLAGS AND MIRAGE GO? HOW MANY CHANGES CAN HAPPEN BETWEEN A BLINK OF AN EYE?

Shooters in TR, FS, FOpen, FTR and Sporter / Hunter took to the Davison Range at North Arm to shoot 6 ranges from 300m to 600 yards over Saturday and Sunday of the last weekend of October 2022.

They are not long ranges by any means, but neither are they ‘easy’ ranges to shoot. Hot temperatures, dancing mirage and flicky and changeable winds catch shooters out – a blink of an eye and the wind has dropped – sometimes more than one moa.

NOBODY ACCOMPLISHED THE PERFECT SCORE!

There was some great shooting across the range with Scott Robson having a masterclass at his home range! Josh Turner of Pacif and Fred Hewitt of Muckadilla took the minor placings. Owen Miller and Craig Ryan continued their good form from the Nationals taking TRB and TRC.

QRA junior Hamish O’Donnell from Crows Nest Goombungee showed some grit and determination beating the NRAA King’s Champion by a single point with Mahlon Reid in third. FSB saw Gary Towers lead the way with John Preece finishing well on day 2! Grant Larsen rounded out 3rd place.

F open saw local member Peter Coats put on a file display to take it out with Dave Brown of Crows Nest Goombungee and Julie McEwan taking 3rd.

FTR saw Beaudesert’s Michelle Dick take it in a close race with local shooters Jim Dunsmore and Greg Hansen having stellar shoots on the second day.

Sporter / Hunter saw a great battle between John Downes, Rob Griffith and Mel Power. John won the 2 days only dropping 3 points!

Thanks to everyone at North Arm for putting on such a great event! The Saturday evening meal was attended by over 50 people and it seems they’ll be back again next year!

After the main event, a lot of fun was had at a ‘team’s event’ – a great way to wrap up an awesome couple of days.

The scores are in – well done to all!
