This is a brief update to all members and clubs surrounding the changes announced to COVID-19 restrictions in Qld due this coming weekend.
As you are aware the Qld Government has announced that gatherings of up to 10 persons can take place as of 16th of May. There will be clubs that can operate under this scenario and there will be clubs that may be able to manage their activities to accommodate this requirement through the management of scheduling range times and bookings.
It is important to remember that we will need to understand what this “new normal” looks like. To this end, the QRA will be sending out procedures to assist clubs with the management of the restrictions under these requirements. Social distancing will need to be as critical as always and those with any flu like symptoms should not be attending the range. Similarly, those members in the vulnerable age ranges should consider their risk profiles before attending also.
For larger clubs we are also gathering information from relevant government agencies and their representatives to clarify some of the conditions under these changes. One of the items is what does 10 persons mean and in what area does this apply? If you look at beaches and parks up to 10 persons is considered a gathering. However, where does this fit in the context of a 25 metres or 50 metres mound area? These are some of the items that we will seek to find clarity.
I can’t stress it enough that we must do everything we can to ensure the safe conduct of our shooting activities as we move into these new restrictions. Choosing to ignore protocols or not taking them seriously could place our sport at further risk of restrictions. So please ensure you all do your best to comply with the best information available.
We will get further information out as soon as we can. In the meantime, if you have brass prep to do – get into it. We are close, very close.
