Narrabri young gun, Andrew Wilson takes the Goondiwindi Title!

Young Narrabri shooter Andrew Wilson brought his world championship form to the Goondiwindi Border Prize Meeting at the weekend.

Andrew prevailed by a narrow margin after going head to head with North Arm Rifle Club member Colin Cole over two days of competition.

Both shooters missed just a single bullseye over seven ranges from 300 to 600 metres with Andrew hitting three more centre bulls to win 349.41 to 349.38.

 

Andrew said attending the world titles in the USA has month had been a great experience after coping with the pressure of having to shoot a possible 50 for victory at the last Goondiwindi range.

The Border shoot attracted a large crowd of competitors with travelling visitors coming from as far afield as South Australia and Western Australia.

Ian Noll from Whyalla placed third in the A Grade competition with Ipswich shooter Tony Logan winning B Grade.

There was strong competition in scope rifle classes with Beaudesert shooters Tony Berry was a clear winner in F Open and Mike Samuels taking out the F Target Rifle trophy.

WA visitor Mahlon Reid won the F Standard competition.
