2016 QRA Queens – A big week of shooting, Duncan Range, Belmont Shooting Complex

James Corbett wrapped up his 30th Queens Prize taking the 2016 QRA title with another commanding performance in Brisbane. One of Australia’s greatest marksmen who hails from Benalla in Victoria, missed just a single bulllseye in the 100-shot match for a convincing win.

Mark’s Perfect Score 60.10. Perfect scores in long range rifle shooting are hard to come by. And capturing an image of that perfect target was not an option until the recent introduction of electronic targets.

North Arm shooter Colin Cole mastered the challenging Muckadilla range with a superb three day exhibition on the Labour Day long weekend.

In an outstanding display of .303 rifle marksmanship, Peter Richards and Dave Hatherell missed just a single bullseye each when they went head to head in the popular Anzac shoot at North Arm on Sunday, April 17.

One of the State’s best rifle shooters Colin Cole started the 2016 season in sparking form at Crows Nest on Sunday, Feb 14.

Young Narrabri shooter Andrew Wilson brought his world championship form to the Goondiwindi Border Prize Meeting at the weekend. Andrew prevailed by a narrow margin after going head to head with North Arm Rifle Club member Colin Cole over two days of competition.

With a score of 498.61, Peter Thurtell was only 3 V Bulls ahead of his rival James Corbett with Albert District’s Brendan Parkins a close third with 496.41. Bill Ballantyne took TR/B with Tina Thornhill from Central in third place. Kevin Chatfield took F Std A with Glenn Rush taking third, Dianne Jonker F Std B, Lowell Tillack F Open with Daryl Barlow taking out F/TR from Mike Samuels.
Belmont Shooting Complex
The Queensland Rifle Association fosters target rifle shooting and firearms training through our clubs. Different classes of rifle shooting are conducted by our Clubs under the Standard Shooting Rules (SSRs) of the National Rifle Association of Australia (NRAA).
