James Corbett wrapped up his 30th Queens Prize taking the 2016 QRA title with another commanding performance in Brisbane. One of Australia’s greatest marksmen who hails from Benalla in Victoria, missed just a single bulllseye in the 100-shot match for a convincing win.

2015 Queens

With a score of 498.61, Peter Thurtell was only 3 V Bulls ahead of his rival James Corbett with Albert District’s Brendan Parkins a close third with 496.41. Bill Ballantyne took TR/B with Tina Thornhill from Central in third place. Kevin Chatfield took F Std A with Glenn Rush taking third, Dianne Jonker F Std B, Lowell Tillack F Open with Daryl Barlow taking out F/TR from Mike Samuels.

303s at the QRA Queens

The 303 branch of rifle-shooting has been steadily growing from near-death since the advent of 7.62mm, to the present when new life was breathed into it by Bob Bull who organised a series of annual 303 shoots at North Arm each April leading up to 2015, to honour the ANZACs, including his own father who was a cameleer in Palestine.

NRAA 2015 Australian Queens (June)

Natives member Tim Berry was runner-up in the 2015 Australian Queens Prize shot at Belmont range in Brisbane. He led a strong showing of QRA members in the national titles contested by more than 180 shooters from around Australia and New Zealand.
